The Center for Media research has just reported on some interesting new stats about blogging: http://blogs.mediapost.com/research_brief/?p=1702
They report on a study that finds more female GenXr’s blogging than their millennial counterparts. Most are well educated and many would give up vices like chocolate if they had to make the choice between that and blogging.
I am not surprised by the lower use among younger females, as short, quick communication tools like text messaging and IMing seem to be the draw. I was surprised to see females surpassing the original core demographic for blogging, 20-30-something males. Looks like young men were the early adopters here as in so many new tools, but it is the women who are really making this a mainstream tool.
