Pew Internet & American Life, one of the best resources for insightful research and data on the Internet, has just published a report, “Networked Families.”
The key finding: the Internet and cell phones have become central components of modern family life. Among all household types, the traditional nuclear family has the highest rate of technology usage and ownership.
If moms, dads and kids are in your target audience, you need to use technology to reach them. I certainly found this to be true during my tenure at Fairfax County Public Schools, where the district website and e-mail program quickly supplanted print publications as the core way to reach out audiences.
