I have already posted about Craig Newmark’s keynote address to the PRSA International Conference last week. Craig, founder of Craigslist, was asked about how to make a great website. His answer boiled down to: keep it real.
Craig commented on how many websites seem to feature images of people who look just too happy to be real. His advice is to create a website that reflects reality. Talk about your subject in real terms and use real-life images whenever possible. If you paint a one-sided, all-too-rosy and happy picture then your visitors will see it as, well, one-sided and all-too-rosy!
Simple, terrific advice.
