Build Your Online Profile with About.me

About.me is a website that allows you to unify your multiple online profiles at services like Facebook, LinkedIn, Flickr, and Twitter into one online presence. With about me you can build a personal profile and track your influence online with a stats dashboard.

The dashboard is intended to allow you to understand how many people see your profile, where they’re coming from, and what they do on your page. The site has a note that this section is still in beta and promises improvements.

I gave the service a try and created a profile: http://about.me/jakprpro It was easy enough to connect my various online accounts. I was surprised that the connections seem to just be links with no dynamic feeds to the page.

As for the profile page, you can add a background image. The online samples show this as being a picture of the person, but I am not ready to see my face that large so I went with a calming beach scene. You can also change fonts and colors.

My take so far: another place to get yourself visibility online. How useful it will be beyond that only time will tell.

If you have an about.me profile I would appreciate your thoughts on the service. Just comment here.
