Tips for Facebook Success

Here are some tips for growing a loyal, engaged following on Facebook.

Post Interesting Content

Make sure that your content speaks to your fans, offering valuable and interesting information. Offer content that keeps friends connection and watching for your next post.

Monitor what others are publishing. If you see something that would be valuable to your fans, publish that content. Third-party publishing is a great way to continue to add value for your fans without having to create all the content.

Sources of content include:

  • Posts from influencers in your topic area
  • Your friends
  • News sources, such as CNN

Like and Comment

Comment on posts made by your friends. This can be as simple as clicking the like button or a little more involved by typing a comment. These actions build and reinforce relationships.

When commenting on posts:

  • Be yourself. Write in the same style you would talk to a friend.
  • Use names. When you make a comment and use a name, that person gets a notification that draws more attention to your comment.
  • Be brief. Get to the point quickly using the fewest words needed.

Solve Problems, Answer Questions

Solve problems and answer questions for your Facebook friends. Regularly share your expertise. This helps them and solidifies you as the go-to expert that attracted them to connect with you in the first place.

Respond to questions and proactively share the information your friends, prospects and clients want to know.

Pay Attention to Stats

Facebook Insights offers some stats that help you to understand the effect of your efforts.

  • # fans
  • # new Fans
  • Fan growth
  • # unlikes

To get to your Insights, just go to your Facebook page and click “Edit Page” in the upper-right corner. From there you will see a list of links in the left column. You can click on “Insights” to get your page metrics.
