Develop Your Key Messages

I recently participated in the PRSA webinar “Key Message Development: Building a Foundation for Effective Communications.” Debbie Wetherhead, president, Wetherhead Communications presented a great roadmap for this essential communication work.

Key message development for an organization to clearly and consistently speak with one voice and to differentiate itself from competitors.

My key takeaways:

  • Define your key messages with a strategic team: marketing staff, organizational leaders, writers
  • Your key messages should speak from the desires of your customers
  • Be a storyteller, and encourage your customers to tell stories too
