Social media are relationship platforms, where people expect to have personal, authentic interactions. This can be a challenge when you are representing a business. here are 5 tips for making your brand more personable.
Share a face and a name. Don’t post in anonymity. Name the people who are posting. Using your logo as your avatar is fine, but be sure to post lots of photos showing the people who are behind the business.
Use first person and conversational language. Your social media accounts are run by human beings so talk that way. Be responsive, and conversational. Talk to your connections just as you would to a friend over a cup of coffee.
Be helpful. Point people to the information they need. Answer questions even if they aren’t going to land a sale or really promote your business. your help now will create a long-lasting connection with that user and, just like any relationship, who knows where that will lead.
Don’t be perfect. You WILL make mistakes on social media. The sheer volume of exchanges make it likely to happen. When it does, own up to it, correct it, be willing to laugh at yourself a bit, and move on. That’s the human thing to do.
Be part of conversations. Make sure you are engaging in conversations that other people start, not just your own. And, be sure to listen to what people are saying about you and your brand on social channels. Take feedback seriously.
