Highlight Your Services on LinkedIn

LinkedIn changes all the time, adding (and sometimes removing) options. It is important to check your profile and business page regularly to make sure you are leveraging the latest options. One to look at now is the ability to add services to your profile.

You can add the services you provide on your profile, and be found for the same in search results.

LinkedIn services

You can add services to appear near the top of your profile. LinkedIn has also added this as a search option, meaning that when people go seeking people who offer specific services, they are able to filter their results based on this section.

To add services from your LinkedIn profile page:

  • Visit your profile page from your mobile app or desktop. You’ll see a box under your profile photo/headline to showcase the services you provide.
  • Click “Add Services,” and then select the services you provide.
  • Click “continue” and this will automatically be added to your profile.

Location and Your Local Business Marketing Plan

Localizing your marketing efforts will build brand recognition within your community and foster brand loyalty from consumers who support local businesses.

Why you need a local marketing strategy

What’s the first thing you do when you need your car repaired, want to find some local entertainment or want to plan a date night?

If you’re like most people, you turn to Google. “Near me” searches have grown consistently since 2013, according to Google. In fact, these searches are so common that Google’s algorithm routinely provides localized results for most searches.

A local marketing strategy increases your visibility in these local searches. Whether users start with a search query, use Google maps, or go directly to their preferred third-party review site, you want your company to be listed among the options.

How to use digital channels to support local marketing

Getting listed takes specific focus on local marketing strategy. Here are a few tactics that are essential.

Claim your business page on third-party review sites

Google Business, Yelp, Angie’s List, and TripAdvisor are just a few of many sites that people turn to when they want to find a local resource. Claim your business page on these sites to make sure the information is accurate and that you can respond or react to comments, questions and reviews.

Create targeted advertising campaigns

Digital ads offer you an excellent opportunity to target your audience using various parameters, including location. You can leverage posts within Google maps, ads on social media, and ads within review and other sites to make sure your business is seen.

Have a SEO strategy

When creating content for your website, it’s important to factor in search engine optimization (SEO). Understand what your customers search to find a business like yours and use those words and phrases on pages and posts. Make sure that your meta description field highlights keywords as well as information that will make someone click on your search result.

Structure your website for local users

Local users often search for the same information, and it is best to highlight those things on your website. Have your name, address and phone in the header and footer of every page. On your contact page, be sure to include those details along with a map and driving directions from central locations.

Also be sure to mention the areas you serve. Most often, you’ll best serve the needs of people and search engine crawlers by naming specific towns and cities.

It’s good to be local

It wasn’t too long ago that local businesses could not compete online with national organizations with large budgets. All that has changed as search engines react to the trend of users looking for and preferring local business results. This creates terrific digital marketing for those businesses that take time to apply a local marketing strategy to their online efforts.

6 Tips to Make Your Instagram Posts Awesome

Success on Instagram is largely about sharing great visuals. Follow these tips to make your Instagram posts awesome.

Tip 1: Make your captions more readable with line breaks

If you like to share long captions, this tip is for you. Edit your photo and proceed to the caption screen. Write your caption. Use Return to add breaks to your caption. To access the Return key, tap the 123 key on your device’s keyboard.

The breaks will start a new line, but not create the white space that you would normally see between two paragraphs. If you want a paragraph break, write out your caption in a note app and copy it to Instagram. To break up lines further, consider using punctuation, such as bullet points or dashes, to hold the place of an empty line.

Tip 2: Adjust the intensity of filters

Do you want to lessen the effect of filters? After uploading or taking a photo, tap the filter you’d like to use. Tap the filter again to open edit options. Use the sliding scale to adjust the intensity of the filter. Tap Done to add the filter to your post and continue your edits.

Tip 3: Upload a post with multiple scenes

You can upload a post with multiple photos and video clips:

  1. Tap the + icon in the navigation bar at the bottom of the screen
  2. Tap SELECT MULTIPLE on the Library tab
  3. Choose the photos and videos from your camera roll that you want to include in your Story
  4. Choose and edit your filters
  5. Once you’ve selected your videos, you can tap to trim them or press and hold to reorder
  6. To delete a clip, drag it to the center of the screen
  7. Finish your edits as usual and share

To record a video with multiple clips:

  1. Tap the + icon at the bottom of the screen
  2. Tap Video
  3. Tap the circle icon to begin recording
  4. To take multiple clips, lift your finger off the circle icon to pause, then press and hold it when you want to begin recording again
  5. To delete a previous clip in your video, tap Delete, then tap again to confirm

Tip 4: Share videos without sound

If the audio of your video doesn’t add to the viewing experience, remove it so it’s not a distraction. Tap the + icon at the bottom of the screen to select the video you’d like to upload. Tap Next. Tap the volume control icon at the top of the screen to mute the video’s sound

Tip 5: Save drafts for later

You can save any post as a draft and come back to it later.

  1. Tap the + icon at the bottom of the screen to shoot or upload a photo or video
  2. Edit the post as you like, adding filters, captions, tags, or a location
  3. Hit the < icon in the upper left-hand corner of the screen to go back to the editing screen
  4. Hit the < icon again
  5. A pop-up menu will appear, select Save Draft
  6. When you’re ready to continue with your edits and share your post, tap the + icon, then select Library
  7. A new DRAFTS section will now appear above CAMERA ROLL
  8. Tap your desired post, or select Manage to view all of your saved drafts
  9. Select a post, edit, and share as usual

Tip 6: Blur the background on a portrait photo

Need to remove distracting content in the background of a photo. You can!

Open the camera and select Focus among the options under the record button. Take a selfie or switch to the rear-facing camera to snap a photo of someone else. The subject will stay in focus while the background blurs.
