Instagram Stats

  • The second most downloaded free app in the Apple store is Instagram.
  • Instagram is the 4th most-used social media platform in the world.
  • Instagram users spend almost as much time on the platform as Facebook users. They browse for an average of 53 minutes per day.
  • 62% of users log into their account at least once per day.
  • 42% of users check their account multiple times per day.

How to Use Instagram for Your Brand

Here are some key tips to help you maximize your Instagram presence in 2023.

Keep Up with What Instagram Offers

As with all social media, Instagram is constantly evolving. So, if you plan to use it, you will need to commit to staying on top of changes on the platform. New this year:

  • More posts placed into feeds that are not based on accounts followed
  • Focus on short-form video clips
  • Sharing posts in DMs and Stories

Building Your Brand Presence

Instagram is a very visual platform. You need to establish a recognizable presence with every post. Use consistent branding – logo, fonts, colors, visuals, tone, etc. Develop a style that remains consistent throughout your posts, based on colors used, settings, stickers, emojis, etc.

Focus on Content that Works Well on Instagram

Use the Instagram search functionality to uncover the best-performing posts by topic. Merge these ideas with your brand messaging to generate content that will resonate on the platform.

When writing the content to post with your image or video:

  • Lead with the most important information
  • Use a consistent and human tone
  • Keep text short and to the point

Instagram shows users content that is similar to the accounts that people have chosen to follow. Be sure to research what other brands in your industry are posting so you can align with what is resonating with your target consumers.

‘Freshness’ is important within Instagram’s algorithmic approach, which means that you need to be posting regularly. Post at least a few times a week to build a presence, then measure audience response to gauge the best posting schedule.

Hashtags

Hashtags may not be as critical as they once were. Instagram now uses AI to make recommendations to users, based on what they watch and engage with. But hashtags do still play a significant role in discovery, and highlighting relevant content to users.

Research the best hashtags by looking at related content on the platform or by using a hashtag discovery tool. There are several free options available.

Instagram recommends adding 3 to 5 highly relevant hashtags per post. You can use up to 30. The key is to choose the most relevant tags.

Consider Reels

Instagram allows you to post short-form videos via Reels. If you can come up with great Reels content, your post can get more reach on Instagram.
