Highlight Your Services on LinkedIn

LinkedIn changes all the time, adding (and sometimes removing) options. It is important to check your profile and business page regularly to make sure you are leveraging the latest options. One to look at now is the ability to add services to your profile.

You can add the services you provide on your profile, and be found for the same in search results.

LinkedIn services

You can add services to appear near the top of your profile. LinkedIn has also added this as a search option, meaning that when people go seeking people who offer specific services, they are able to filter their results based on this section.

To add services from your LinkedIn profile page:

  • Visit your profile page from your mobile app or desktop. You’ll see a box under your profile photo/headline to showcase the services you provide.
  • Click “Add Services,” and then select the services you provide.
  • Click “continue” and this will automatically be added to your profile.

Social Media by the Numbers

A lot of anecdotal information gets passed around about social media. That can be helpful in eyeing trends, but it is best to check with an authoritative data source to know the real numbers. For me, that is Pew. Here’s their latest snapshot.

Today around seven-in-ten Americans use social media to connect with one another, engage with news content, share information and entertain themselves. In all, 72% of Americans use some type of social media.

The social media user base is representative of the broader population. Young adults were among the earliest social media adopters and continue to use these sites at high levels, but usage by older adults has increased in recent years.

YouTube and Facebook are the most-widely used online platforms. Smaller shares of Americans use Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram and LinkedIn.

For many users, social media is part of their daily routine. Roughly three-quarters of Facebook users – and around six-in-ten Instagram users – visit these sites at least once a day. Frequency is less on other platforms.

Instagram offers a lot of features. If you haven’t looked to see what’s new there in a while, here are some things to consider for your marketing approach on Instagram.

Instagram Stories

It is estimated that just half of businesses on Instagram use stories. Those that do, get great results. One-third of the most viewed stories are posted by businesses.

Instagram Stories disappear after just 24 hours. Followers expect them to be more real and raw than your curated Instagram feed. They provide a great opportunity to connect with followers and build relationships.

You can create highlight albums in your profile to preserve your top Stories content, so it doesn’t disappear after 24 hours. Your highlight albums appear right under your bio, and you can create custom covers for each.

Instagram Shopping

Business accounts get access to Instagram Shopping. This feature, which is not available for personal accounts, allows you to sell products directly from Instagram posts and stories.

Influencer Partnerships

Working with an influencer can help to build your credibility while exposing your brand to a new audience. Invite an influencer to take over your Instagram account for a set period of time, like a weekend, or for a special event.

Instagram Ads

The surest way to get your content in front of a new audience is to run an Instagram ad. You can advertise in the Instagram feed or in stories. You can target your ads based on:

  • Location: State, province, city, country
  • Demographics: Age, gender, and language
  • Interests, such as other accounts people follow and apps they use
  • Behaviors, both on and off Instagram

You may get a sense of what works for you on Instagram, but there’s nothing like data to prove out your hunches. The best way to improve your results is to learn from what you’ve already done. Study the information available in Instagram Insights and adjust based on what the data tells you.
